Square Privacy Policy
Square (“the Service”) is a co-op service where developers test one another's apps. We take your privacy seriously and collect, use, store, and delete personal information as described below.
1. Information We Collect
| Category | Items | How collected |
|---|---|---|
| Required (sign-in) |
Email address and unique account identifier (UID) of your Google account | Automatically on Google sign-in |
| Optional (contacts) |
KakaoTalk ID, KakaoTalk OpenChat, email, phone number, Discord, Instagram, other — items you enter yourself | Entered by the user |
| Service usage data |
Nickname (randomly assigned), registered app info (name, package name, icon, links), room creation/participation records, attendance (app-launch verification) records, notifications | Generated through use of the Service |
| Push notifications |
Push notification token (FCM registration token — a device identifier), push notification preferences | Generated automatically when notifications are allowed and the app runs |
| Automatically collected |
Advertising ID, device/usage information (for ad delivery and service operation) | Automatically via the ad SDK (Google AdMob) |
A nickname is randomly assigned at sign-up, and your Google account's real name is not displayed in the Service. Among the contacts you enter, only the items you mark as “public” are visible to other users (for coordinating the co-op). “Private” items are visible only to you.
2. Purpose of Use
- Member identification and authentication via Google sign-in
- Co-op matching (creating/joining rooms) and attendance (app-launch) records
- Providing a means of contact between users (only for contacts set to public)
- Sending room activity notifications (applications, participation, room closure, removal, etc.) via the in-app notification box and device push notifications, and operating/improving the Service
- Ad delivery and measurement
The push notification token is used solely to deliver the room activity notifications above to your device; it is not used for advertising or marketing. You can turn off push notifications at any time in the app settings or your device's notification permission (see Section 6).
3. Disclosure to Third Parties
- To other users: contacts and nickname you set to “public” and the app information you register are shown to other users within the Service. Private items are not provided.
- Advertising: the Service displays ads through Google AdMob, which may collect and use information such as your advertising ID for ad delivery and measurement. (Google Ads policy)
- Except where required by law or upon a lawful request by authorities, we do not provide personal information to any third party other than the above.
4. Outsourcing and Overseas Transfer
For stable operation, the Service entrusts the processing of personal information to the following providers, whose servers may be located overseas.
| Provider | Entrusted work |
|---|---|
| Google LLC (Firebase) | Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage (Storage), server functions (Cloud Functions), push notification delivery (Cloud Messaging) |
| Google LLC (AdMob) | Ad delivery and measurement |
5. Retention and Deletion
- Your personal information is deleted without delay upon account deletion.
- Service data is cleaned up automatically: rooms 60 days after creation, notifications 14 days after receipt, and attendance records on roughly a 60-day basis.
- The push notification token is deleted upon sign-out or account deletion, and tokens that are no longer valid are removed automatically.
- Upon account deletion, account info, contacts, registered apps, room/ participation/attendance records, notifications, the push notification token, and your authentication account are removed from the server.
- Where retention is required by law, data is stored separately for that period.
6. Your Rights
- Access/Edit: you can view and edit your nickname, contacts, and public/private settings directly on the in-app profile screen.
- Opt out of push notifications: turn off Settings → “Receive push notifications” in the app (you can also turn them off by type), or revoke the device's notification permission, and no push notifications will be sent. You can still view activity in the in-app notification box.
- Account deletion: you can delete your account and data yourself via “Delete account” at the bottom of the in-app profile screen.
